All Is Lost (12a)

All Is Lost is a 2013 survival drama film written and directed by J. C. Chandor, starring Robert Redford as a man lost at sea. Redford is the only cast member and was nominated for a Golden Globe as well as winning the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor.

In the Indian Ocean, a man wakes to find water flooding his boat. He has collided with a wayward shipping container, ripping a hole in the hull.

The boat navigational and communications systems have been damaged by saltwater. Then a tropical storm throws him overboard, capsizing the boat and destroying the remaining equipment. With the boat sinking, the man abandons ship in an inflatable life raft, salvaging whatever he can to survive...

A triumph of pure cinema and wonderful visual storytelling from Chandor, who must now be considered the real deal, while Redford is sublime in what could well be the performance of his career (Empire)

Laura and Tyler are soulmates. Thirty-something best friends and revellers residing in Dublin, they are ingrained in the fabric of each other’s lives; dating, partying, drinking and living their life without limitations.

American ex-pat, Tyler – a siren of drugs, alcohol and debauchery – lures aspiring writer, Laura, away from her long overdue novel as well as her new beau, the irresistibly handsome Jim. A tee-total classical pianist, Jim is the antithesis of Tyler and the world she and Laura inhabit, and with his presence the girls’ hedonistic double act finds itself in jeopardy.

While Tyler wants to keep the party going, Laura, buoyed by Jim’s restraint and stability, starts to emerge from her years of partying, searching for her place in the world. Caught between desires – youth and adulthood, her old self and her future self – Laura impulsively gets engaged to Jim, knocking Tyler for a loop. Bereft at the thought of losing of her partner in crime, Tyler spies a chance to rock the boat of the “perfect” life Laura can see on the horizon, but in doing so inadvertently helps Laura find a new unexpected path to independence.

At once both a celebration of female friendship and an examination the choices we make when facing a crossroad, ANIMALS is an honest, funny, edgy, unconventional and bittersweet snapshot of modern women.

The legendary heroes of the silver screen are about to have some unusual company. His name is Jack Burton, and he isn’t a hero by choice. He’s a "good ol’ boy" who powers his huge semi-trailer, the Pork Chop Express, through hell and high water, hauling live pigs to the wholesale market. Purely by chance, he’s swept up into one of the most bizarre adventures any screen hero has ever lived. Jack has been everywhere, seen everything and come back to tell about it – but even he couldn’t have dreamed this one up! Kurt Russell stars as Jack Burton, a simple man who doesn’t believe in ghosts or magic until he’s swept into a mind-boggling adventure deep within Chinatown’s mysterious underworld. Joining Russell are Dennis Dun as Burton’s pal, Wang Chi, who is trying to rescue his kidnapped fiancée; Kim Cattrall as Gracie Law, a crusading attorney; Victor Wong as Egg Shen, an enigmatic tour-bus driver who seems to know a lot about ancient Chinese magic for a simple tour-bus driver; and Kate Burton as Margo Litzenberger, an eager but inexperienced reporter. Together they do battle with an outlandish array of human and inhuman adversaries under the command of Lo Pan (James Hong), a 2000-year-old evil magician who has the power to transform himself from a wheelchair-bound old man into a seven-foot-tall mystical menace. BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA is directed by John Carpenter who has created such cult classics as Halloween, The Fog, Escape from New York, The Thing, Starman and Escape from L.A..

On Saturday 13th July 1991 INXS, one of the world's most revered and iconic bands, delivered the gig of their lives at London’s Wembley Stadium to 74,000 ecstatic fans. After a decade and a half on the road the band were at the peak of their live powers and the performance filmed that day shows they were not only a world-class stadium band but the only band that ever had the guts to walk onto the stage at Wembley Stadium in front of 74,000 people and jam their own intro!

The band played over 2000 shows before singer Michael Hutchence’s untimely passing 20 years ago, but Wembley was THE ONE, not only were the band on fire, but the audience was too, both band and crowd knew this would be the performance of a lifetime. What’s more there were no screens, no ramps, no backing singers, no props and cell phones just six guys playing as though their lives depended on it.

INXS delivered hit after hit to an ecstatic audience for nearly two hours and now new to cinemas for 2019, this masterclass in showmanship and musicianship has been painstakingly restored over a twelve-month period from the original 35mm negative to Ultra HD 4K. Now presented in cinematic 16:9 widescreen for this first ever Theatrical exhibition, the original film was presented in 4:3 aspect ratio, but the restored version was created by shot-by-shot repositioning to get the best out of the frame.

To accompany the astonishing visual upgrade, the audio is now be presented in full Dolby Atmos, created by Giles Martin, the band’s Executive Music Director, and Sam Okell at Abbey Road Studios.

Trailblazer. Inspirator. Survivor. Suzi Q is the

definitive, unexpurgated story of the girl

from Detroit City who redefined the role and

image of women in rock ‘n’ roll when she

broke out around the world in 1973.

The trailblazer and inspiration for a generation

of female rock musicians who followed her,

Suzi Q reminds contemporary audiences of

her pioneering influence, white-hot talent

and string of incandescent pop-rock hits.

Testimony is duly made by a host of rock

luminaries, with focus on the women who

followed the roadmap Suzi charted for them.

Exiled to Europe during her success yet

now largely forgotten in her homeland, we

return with Suzi to Detroit. Exploring the long

simmering family tensions and sibling rivalries

that result from the success of one family

member, we reveal the price paid for success

in a deeply personal exploration of fame,

ambition and resilience.

Still on the road after 50 years, Suzi Quatro

Terminator 1 and 2 DOUBLE BILL

Terminator 1 and 2 DOUBLE BILL

15

We celebrate the release of Terminator: Dark Fate the direct sequel to Terminator 1&2 with a double bill of the original classics!

The Terminator (15)

In 2029, the war between man and machine has desolated the Earth, leaving humanity all but wiped out. Pockets of survivors remain - either living as slaves serving their technological overlords, or as resistance fighters attempting to overthrow the sentient defence network that controls the machines.

From this wasteland, two soldiers are sent back in time to Los Angeles, 1984 in order to influence the outcome of a conflict that hasn't taken place yet. One is an unstoppable cyborg assassin, the other a human guerrilla fighter. Serving on opposite sides of the battle, they share the same target: Sarah Connor, an unsuspecting young woman whose unborn child will become the key to saving mankind.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day (15)

In this sequel set eleven years after "The Terminator," young John Connor (Edward Furlong), the key to civilization's victory over a future robot uprising, is the target of the shape-shifting T-1000 (Robert Patrick), a Terminator sent from the future to kill him. Another Terminator, the revamped T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), has been sent back to protect the boy. As John and his mother (Linda Hamilton) go on the run with the T-800, the boy forms an unexpected bond with the robot.

The Shining 4k Resoration

15strong violence, strong language

All work and no play makes Oscar-winning actor Jack Nicholson-the caretaker of an isolated resort-go way off the deep end, terrorizing his young son and wife (Shelley Duvall).

Nicholson plays Jack Torrance, who's come to the elegant, isolated Overlook Hotel as off-season caretaker. Torrance has never been there before-or has he? The answer lies in a ghostly time warp of madness and murder.

Master filmmaker Stanley Kubrick's visually haunting chiller, based on the bestseller by master-of-suspense Stephen King, is an undeniable contemporary classic. Newsweek called The Shining "the first epic horror film," full of indelible images, and a signature role for Nicholson whose character was recently selected by AFI as one of their 50 Greatest Villains.
