The film is a record of our conversations with young philosophers about becoming restless with autonomous thinking. As a visual study it is interested in the bodily, sensual processes of thinking, showing the sparks flying when 17-year-olds commit themselves to it with enthusiasm and seriousness of purpose.

There will be a Q&A after the screening with Beate Absalon (dramaturgy), Roman Hagenbrock (cinematography), Sebastian Köthe (direction) and others TBA. Don't hesitate to contribute with your questions, comments and observations. The event is proudly hosted by the Goldsmiths Visual Cultures Society.

Ziggy Stardust & the Spiders from Mars

D.A. Pennebaker’s concert film Ziggy Stardust & the Spiders from Mars remains the defining document of the end of David Bowie’s first great stage persona. The set, recorded at Hammersmith Odeon on 3 July 1973, included songs from each of the Starman’s unbroken run of classic albums, from 1969’s David Bowie (aka Space Oddity) to the then current Aladdin Sane. It climaxed with Bowie’s surprise onstage announcement that it would be the final Spiders from Mars show and promptly entered rock legend.
